Today I wanted to discuss the profound impact of not following our own inner movement guide, as well as the transformative beauty that awaits us when we do. It’s crucial to acknowledge both the consequences of ignoring our inner movement guide and the incredible possibilities that unfold when we embrace it. Mindful movement, in particular, plays a vital role in helping us attune to this inner wisdom and actively listen to its whispers.
📉 Moving by Others’ Standards
Imagine for a moment the disheartening reality of disregarding your inner movement guide. We often find ourselves giving away our power, allowing the opinions of others in our community or the inundation of online content to dictate how we “should” and “should not” move. The result? We lose touch with our authenticity and true desires. Our bodies suffer, as we engage in movements that don’t resonate with our unique needs and well-being. In this state, injuries become more prevalent, and our overall vitality diminishes. It’s a cycle of disconnection, frustration, and limitation. Unfortunately, this is the state most of us are stuck in.
🧘♂️ The Inner Movement Guide
This is where the concept of the “inner movement guide” comes into play. Our inner movement guide is an intuitive and innate wisdom that resides within each of us. It acts as an internal compass, guiding us in making conscious choices about how we move and interact with our bodies. This guide communicates through sensations, emotions, and subtle cues, pointing us towards movements that align with our authentic desires and well-being.
When we embrace our inner movement guide, we open ourselves up to a deeper connection with ourselves, going beyond external influences or societal expectations. This intuitive wisdom allows us to tune into what feels right and nourishing for our unique being. By consciously listening to and trusting this guide, we can make informed choices that honor our individual needs and goals, leading to a more fulfilling and empowering movement journey.
🌿 Mindful Movement
Mindful movement serves as the conduit to establish this profound connection with our inner movement guide. It involves cultivating present-moment awareness and non-judgmental observation of our bodily sensations and feelings during physical activities. When we practice mindful movement, we slow down, observe, and explore the language of our bodies, fostering a deeper connection with our inner wisdom.
With each mindful movement, we learn to decipher the nuanced messages our inner movement guide communicates. We discover what movements feel right, what nourishes us, and what brings us into a state of flow. Movement becomes a conversation between the wisdom of expert advice and our internal knowing. It empowers us to make choices that respect and honor our inner guidance while integrating external knowledge.
