“Money isn’t in the buy and it isn’t in the sell, it's in the wait.”
-Charlie Munger
Hey there,
I’ve been contemplating something lately.
It’s a struggle I face, and I'm sure many of you can relate.
🏋️♂️ Finding the Perfect Exercise
The relentless pursuit of the finding perfect exercise hits close to home. For me, it’s partially fueled by consuming excessive amounts of information on Instagram. During the first half of this year, my obsession was mastering handstands. Countless hours, sweat, and dedication were poured into the pursuit of that seemingly perfect balance. I wanted to ensure I was making the most of my time by doing the perfect exercises
🤕 July's Unfortunate Turn
Then came July—a turning point, but not in the way I had hoped. An injury struck, sidelining me from my handstand ambitions. The setback was disheartening, to say the least. Instead of adjusting my approach and staying consistent with modified handstand exercises, I made a decision that would later haunt me.
🕰️ The Pitfall of Impatience
Instead of embracing the setback as a temporary hurdle, I chose to give up the pursuit for a couple of months. I picked a brand new pursuit, assuming the lessons learned would directly transfer to the handstand. The desire for immediate results clouded my judgment, leading me down a path of frustration. It would have been wiser to continue with modified versions of the handstand exercise I was already doing.
🧘♂️Alex Hormozi's Wisdom
“Patience is what you are doing in the meantime. Ideally, what you are doing in the meantime will lead you TOWARDS your goal, but it's way more important that it does not DETRACT from the goal”
🪶 The Current Reality
Now, as I reflect, I find myself at a setback. The months of inconsistency have taken their toll. The setback is a stark reminder that the pursuit of perfection, without patience and consistency, can lead us astray.
🎓 The Lessons Learned
In my years of exploring movement, this experience has become a crucial chapter. I’ve unearthed a fundamental truth - the key to success lies in consistency. The setback with handstands taught me that results don’t materialize overnight, and abandoning the journey in frustration only prolongs the process.
🌱 Resuming the Journey with Fresh Wisdom
So, as I embark on the journey once again, handstand aspirations intact, I share this personal tale. Jumping from exercise to exercise, goal to goal, fueled by impatience, is a pitfall. While waiting for your results, be consistent with what you are doing. Even if setbacks occur, refine your technique and consistently improve the movements you can do, for that is more effective than constantly changing up exercises and your goals.
